Rough Opal

Rough opals are unprocessed opal straight from the mines or from the agitation process of washing and tumbling. Rough opal can be purchased in two forms, either as rough or rubs.

In some instances, rough potch opal can also be purchased to help beginners become comfortable with lapidary equipment without the thought of polishing away hundreds or even thousands of dollars worth of opal down the drain.
